Lucasfilm has released the first teaser trailer of Rogue One A Star Wars Story. Rogue One is the first spin-off of the Star Wars franchise that has been released. Directed by Gareth Edwards the follows the events shortly before A New Hope IV (1977). This is the first of the other three standalone films.
The teaser trailer was unveiled during ABC's Good Morning America on Thursday morning (April 7). Rogue One A Star Wars Story will be released on December 16, 2016.
The trailer looks promising as it introduces the audience to the parallel world of Star Wars. In this nearly two-minute-long trailer, with the central character Jyn Erso, Mon Mothma is re-introduced. Mon Mothma's character last appeared in The Return Of Jedi (1983). Her character was earlier essayed by British actor Caroline Blakiston in 1983.
In the new trailer, Mon Mothma introduces Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), who has been on her own from age of 15 and she is "reckless, aggressive, and undisciplined".
The film star cast includes Mads Mikkelsen (Le Chiffre in Casion Royale), Diego Luna and Riz Ahmed (Night Crawler), Riz Ahmed (Bodhi rook). Speculations are rife that Jyn Esro could turn out to be Rey's (Daisy Ridley) mother.
