Most of the collections of Tamasha has come through multiplexes in top cities single screens and mass areas have not been that strong.
Tamasha had a Good to very good start at metros but was average to decent at multiplexes of big cities but is low elsewhere !.
This is a boost to Ranbir Kapoor that he has not lost his appeal as Tamasha has opened much better than Bombay Velvet and even Roy though some credit would also go to presence of Deepika Padukone whose presence has also helped the opening.
A Point of concern is that Tamasha has opened lower than Shandaar and Dil Dhadakne Do both city centric movies

Tamasha has a Production Budget of 60 Crores and prints and advertising budget of 15 Crores
Tamasha was sold by Producer Sajid Nadiadwala to UTV as part of a 3 picture deal also containing Phantom and Tiger Shroff's next Baaghi. The total deal was rumoured to be valued at approximately 200 crores minimum guarantee.
Tamasha was expected to be major gainer for UTV in the deal.
